Super Inductive System - SIS Duo

Advanced technology to support rehabilitation

At PhysioFunction, we use the BTL Super Inductive System Duo (SIS Duo), an advanced technology that uses high-intensity electromagnetic fields to stimulate nerves and muscles. It provides an additional way to support muscle activation, strengthening, relaxation and pain management as part of an individual's rehabilitation programme.

How can SIS Duo help?

SIS Duo can be used to support people experiencing a range of neurological and musculoskeletal difficulties, including:

  • Muscle weakness: stimulating muscle contractions to help activate and strengthen weakened muscles.
  • Increased muscle tone and spasticity: helping to reduce excessive muscle activity and muscle tension.
  • Pain management: supporting the management of acute and chronic pain.
  • Movement and joint mobility: encouraging muscle activity to help improve movement and mobility.

Supporting neurological rehabilitation

Following a stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury, the communication between the brain, nerves and muscles can be affected. This can make it difficult to activate particular muscles or control movement.

SIS Duo provides an additional way to stimulate targeted muscles and can be incorporated into a wider rehabilitation programme alongside physiotherapy, strengthening exercises and functional activities.

What does treatment involve?

SIS Duo treatment is non-invasive and does not require needles or electrodes. The therapist positions the applicator over the area being treated and selects the appropriate settings according to the individual's needs and treatment goals. The electromagnetic pulses stimulate the targeted nerves and muscles, producing responses such as muscle contractions.

Treatment is tailored to the individual and is used as part of a wider rehabilitation approach, rather than as a replacement for active exercise and physiotherapy.
